What is a school psychologist?

In Nebo School District, each school is assigned a school psychologist. Typically, school psychologists are assigned to more than one school at a time and split their time between two or more schools. School psychologists work with parents, teachers, administrators, and students when students are struggling academically, behaviorally, or emotionally. School psychologists advocate for student needs, provide counseling services as outlined in a student's IEP, participate in the referral process for special education, design interventions to meet student needs and measure progress along the way, conduct standardized assessments and classroom observations, and outline resources available to parents and teachers to help accomplish student goals.
